As the Executive of Preaching at Cornerstone you are entrusted with upholding and communicating the vision of Cornerstone through preaching, teaching and content creation.  You will shape how the Word of God is delivered, digested and lived out by our community through thoughtful communication strategies. 

Additionally, the this position will lead by example and cultivate a positive spirit throughout the church family. The Executive of Preaching at Cornerstone will represent Christ and His church well in the community at large. They should be a team player and follow the biblical model of sacrifice by being willing to put the needs of others in front of their own. In all of their actions, they should be positive and supportive of the Core Values and Vision of our church.  


Who we are looking for…

A Strategic Planner – The ideal candidate will be someone who sees the big picture clearly. They will be responsible for the overarching preaching calendar, aligning message series with the church's seasonal focus, vision and felt needs. This will support the mission of Cornerstone by making the preaching ministry timely, cohesive and effective.

Second Voice and Communicator – The ideal candidate will function as the primary support and second voice to the Senior Pastor on stage, online, and in church-wide communication. Whether preaching, writing or filming, you will ensure that the Cornerstone voice is unified, clear and impactful.

A Church Sponge – The ideal candidate will be someone who has their pulse on what’s working in the Church today. They will also have a tendency to think outside of the box and not be afraid to approach ministry in a way that will be sure to resonate with the world we live in while staying true to the vision and mission of Cornerstone and God's Word.

Spiritually grounded – The ideal candidate has a deep love for God's Word and a calling to preach and teach it faithfully.

Humble and Teachable – The ideal candidate will be someone who is willing to receive feedback and grow from it. They will approach leadership and preaching with open hands and a team-first mindset.


Essential duties and responsibilities…

  • Sermon Series Planning 
    • Lead and oversee the annual sermon calendar.
    • Facilitate collaborative sermon planning meetings.
    • Ensure theological depth and creative relevance in all message series.
  • Preaching and Communication – 
    • ​​​​​​​Serve as the second primary preaching voice from the main stage.
    • Deliver sermons on a rotational basis and provide continuity when the Senior Pastor is unavailable.
    • Represent the voice of Cornerstone through live welcomes, key communication videos, and in-person messaging.
  • Content Development – 
    • ​​​​​​​Write and assist in preparing sermon content for the Senior Pastor.
    • Collaborate on weekend feedback and post-service evaluation.
    • Oversee and lead the planning of the daily devotional, providing consistent and engaging spiritual guidance to the congregation.


An ideal candidate…

  • has 5+ years’ preaching and teaching experience in a church larger than 2000 members.
  • has proven leadership in sermon preparation and series development.
  • has exceptional writing, editing and preaching skills.
  • has the proven ability to think strategically and develop creative sermon series.
  • is skilled at planning and executing content across multiple platforms.
  • is organized and deadline-driven with high attention to detail.
  • aligns with the vision, values, and doctrinal statement of Cornerstone.
