Executive Pastor
The Executive Pastor at Cornerstone works directly with the Lead Pastor to be an implementer of the vision and values of the church. They participate in decision making, leadership and the spiritual oversight of the church at the highest levels.
Additionally, they should lead by example and cultivate a positive spirit throughout the church family. The XP at Cornerstone will represent Christ and His church well in the community at large. They should be a team player and follow the biblical model of sacrifice by being willing to put the needs of others in front of their own. In all of their actions, they should be positive and supportive of the Core Values and Vision of our church.
Who we are looking for…
A Strategic Developer – The ideal candidate will be someone who sees the big picture clearly. They will have a deep understanding of the systems and programs it takes to maintain a healthy church and staff.
A Ministry Savant – The ideal candidate will be someone who has been doing it at a high level for a long time. They will have spent significant time leading in a context of similar size and scope. The value of experience and a natural God-given leadership gifting cannot be overstated for this role.
A Church Sponge – The ideal candidate will be someone who has their pulse on what’s working in Church today. They will also have a tendency to think outside of the box and not be afraid to approach ministry in a way that will be sure to resonate with the world we live in.
A Decisive Leader – The ideal candidate will be someone who makes decisions in a timely manner that reflects the vision values of the organization. They will design clear courses of action and implement steps with measurable goals that move the Adults Ministries Team of Pastors, Directors, and staff forward.
A Collaborative Executive – The ideal candidate will be someone who brings immense insight and value to the Executive Leadership team at Cornerstone. They will have the ability to speak into the global ministry integration of the organization at large.
A True Leader of Leaders– The ideal candidate will be someone who is a steady team manager and proven leader of leaders. They will have the experience and ability to pull the most out of their executive team while also creating an environment that builds consensus, symmetry and integration across the team.
Essential duties and responsibilities…
An Executive Pastor at Cornerstone provides leadership in a number of ways, including…
- Culture – creating, building, sustaining a culture within the executive team based on our church and staff values
- Vision – casting the overall church vision within the church and to the staff as a whole
- Personnel – directly provide leadership to the Lead Team comprised of the follow lead roles: Adults, Business, Childrens, Communications, Connecting Point, Creative Arts and Student Ministries.
- Strategy – helping leaders create strategic pathways to grow in their faith while setting strategy to grow the ministries to meet the needs of the church
- Financials – oversees the budgeting process and stewardship of funds for the church as a whole
- Elder Board – works directly with the Elders to provide oversight for the church
- Administration – build systems, processes and support organizational structure that allow the church to be effect in reaching the vision
- Relationships – successfully develop and nuture relationships with the Lead Pastor, the Lead Team, Staff, Elders and church body
An ideal candidate…
- has 10+ years’ experience in full time ministry, at least 3 years in a church larger than 2000 members.
- has a successful track record of leading other leaders and a paid staff team.
- has a high level of competency and experience when it comes to leadership, staffing, project management and organizational structure.
- has the ability to articulate in writing their philosophy of ministry and the strategy and steps that properly reflect that philosophy.
- has strengths in the following areas: leadership, strategy, administrative, and relational skills
- aligns with the vision, values, and doctrinal statement of Cornerstone
