Young Adults Associate Director
The Young Adults Associate Director will partner with the Young Adults Pastor to cast vision for and execute all aspects of the ministry, leading young adults into a deeper relationship with Jesus and equipping them to influence others and take ground for the Kingdom. This position is meant to be developmental in nature, and will serve the ministry in various formats, including ministerial and administrative.
The YA Associate Director should lead by example and cultivate a positive spirit throughout the church family. They should represent Christ and His church well in the community at large. They should be a team player and follow the biblical model of sacrifice by being willing to put the needs of others in front of their own. In all their actions, they should be positive and supportive of the Core Values and the Vision of our church.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As with any position at Cornerstone, being employed with a church means that each employee is part of the team that pulls together during crisis, special events, and when visible projects need to be done. Duties and responsibilities for this job could change at any time. Current responsibilities may include the following:
Leadership:
- Coordinate volunteers and lead Thursday team huddles
- Lead development of Resident and Interns in coordination with the YA Pastor
- Lead a small group of leaders and keep a pulse on needs and to-do’ as they arise
- Actively participate in weekly debriefs
- Assist in coordinating global mission trips for YA on an annual basis
Volunteer Management:
- Partner with the Young Adults Pastor to refine volunteer structure/org chart, complete with role descriptions and expectations
- Create an effective onboarding process for new young adult volunteers. This process should prepare them to join or lead a team and effectively carry out the function of their volunteer role
- Recruit and onboard new volunteers into the YA ministry for all needed ministry roles
- Schedule all volunteers for programs and ministry environments, or empower a team lead to carry out this function
- Work with the YA Pastor to schedule and facilitate volunteer appreciation events and trainings
- Serve as liaison between Groups Team and YA to foster healthy small groups and coach group leaders
- Facilitate and lead local serve experiences on a quarterly basis for YA
Teaching:
- Actively seek the Lord to discern his heart for the annual teaching calendar
- Working with the YA Pastor, prayerfully craft an annual teaching calendar that is relevant and impactful for young adults
- Assist in the development of YA groups content and curriculum
- Serve as the secondary communicator in YA Environments. This includes, but is not limited to, crafting and delivering messages for roughly 30% of YA Thursday Nights, executing live welcome for YA gatherings, and serving in host role for Pastor Chat/Podcast
Ministerial:
- Serve as a ministerial presence in the YA ministry, meeting with and counseling young adults as needs arise
- Keep a pulse on the health and needs of the people that make up the ministry
Events:
- Assist in creating events calendar that effectively engages the social needs of young adults in the valley
- Coordinate with vendors and ministry partners to effectively execute events
- Take the lead in day-of event details so YA Pastor can maintain pastoral presence
Administrative:
- Demonstrate wisdom in stewardship of ministry budget towards YA Thursday Nights, events, and any other expenses
- Coordinate Rock communication channels
- Assist with social media management as needed
- Assist in setup and teardown of YA gatherings and events
Requirements:
- A deep commitment to Jesus Christ
- A desire to see Young Adults come to know Jesus and step into their God-given purpose
- 1-2 years ministry experience in a church of at least 1,000 people, or equivalent experience as a high-level volunteer
- Demonstrated experience building and leading volunteer teams
- Ability to work in both 30,000ft mindset as well as in the intricate details
- Ability to plan and execute large and small-scale events from start to finish
- Excellent communication skills for both interpersonal and corporate environments
- Relevant knowledge of young adult ministry trends and strategies
- On-stage communication skills & experience
- Knowledge of ministry systems: ROCK, Planning Center, etc.
- Interest and experience in crafting and delivering Biblical teachings
- 20 hours | Mon-Thurs (Thurs will be a long day, roughly 10:00a-9:00p)
- The nature of ministry is flexible, so we will hold our schedule loosely while ensuring a healthy life balance and that all ministry needs are met with excellence.
- Model the qualifications of an elder (1 Tim 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9, 1 Peter 5:1-4).
- Model biblical community in their relationships (Matt 5:23-24, Matt 18:15-17, Eph 4:25-32).
- Model biblical family life before the body (Eph 5:22-6:4).
- Model biblical integrity in all things (1 Tim 6:11-12)
